Pineapple Poker GamesIf the poker player has been playing community card poker games for a considerable length of time, he will be familiar with a poker variant called the Pineapple. The Pineapple poker, like most community card poker variants, is still based on Texas Hold'em. But instead of being dealt with two personal cards (like in Texas Hold'em), the poker player is dealt with three personal cards. With three personal cards in hand, a poker player will choose two cards to keep and one card to discard. The two cards he keeps will be the cards that he believes will form a stronger hand. The third card must be removed immediately before the first betting round commences. Then, the next steps of the Pineapple poker adheres to the steps in the texas hold'em poker . This Pineapple poker variant also has several variations. The first variation has something to do with the instance when the third card must be discarded. This variation is called the Crazy Pineapple. The third personal card that each poker player receives will be discarded only after the second betting round and before the fourth community card is opened. That is, a poker player may discard his third card when he has seen the flop. Such a set up will most likely increase the size of the pot. But the whole process is again a perfect copy of Texas Hold'em. Another variation of the Pineapple poker is the one called Tahoe. In this poker variation, all the three cards obtained by the poker player are kept. That is, there will be no card to discard at any point in the game. With such a set-up, the poker player will have more hand options. But when the poker player reaches the showdown, he is not allowed to use all of his three personal cards. At the showdown of Tahoe, a poker player has three hand options. First, he may not use any of his personal cards and just utilize the five community cards on the poker table. Second, the poker player may use one of the personal cards and four of the community cards. And fifth, the poker player may use two of the personal cards and three of the community cards. Of the three poker variants, the Pineapple, the Crazy Pineapple, and the Tahoe, the one that can only be played high is the Pineapple. The other two, the Crazy Pineapple and the Tahoe, can be played well using the high-low split betting structure. |
