Since the game of poker is already known world wide and that this game is considered as the Americas' national game, every American should know how to play this game.
No one is sure on where poker really originated neither how was the name "poker" invented. In poker, the basic principle in declaring a winning hand is the most unusual type of card combination. This is indeed very obvious when it comes to the basis of the said game.
A few hundreds years ago, there was a Persian game called the "as nas" wherein this game has 20 decks of cards with four players. Each player has 5 cards and the betting basis is for which player the best hand has. There is no such thing as draw because there are no excess cards.
In the year of 1600s there was a German game called Pocher and this term means to brag or bluff. This game influenced the English brag as well as the French game called Poque.
People started thinking that it is very possible that the game named poker was derived from this French game.
The French territory before includes the New Orleans, Louisiana and as well as the Mississippi River. There was a game in Mississippi River called the steamboat game and this was introduced on the year 1830s.
The rules of the game are simple wherein every player or participant will be dealt 5 cards and all of those cards are facing down. After the cards were dealt, each player will now bet for their hand. According to the same stories, the players could bet without any limit at all.
From these games they said that the games of poker were all started. Even before, people were already enjoying the game of poker. The rule of draw in poker was added to give extra adventure to the players.
All of the said games mentioned are interrelated even though no 2 games are exactly the same. The conclusion is that we can make some general statements that all of these games are the origin of the game of poker.
